January Hot Car – 2008 Bugatti Veyron Sang Noir
From Photographer, Matt Wetzel…
“’When having a regular Bugatti Veyron just will not do.‘ What do you do when you have $2,500,000+ USD to spend on a car, but don’t want the same run of the mill Bugatti Veyron? While this may not be a problem faced by most consumers, on the upper end of the automotive market, these truly are concerns that some people have. Thankfully, Bugatti has addressed this issue by creating a line up of ‘Special Edition’ cars to appeal to people looking for something a little more rarified. Enter the Bugatti Veyron Sang Noir: In French, Sang Noir means black blood, and that was the essence of the car – dark and menacing. The exterior is finished in brilliant black paint, with the center sections of the car’s body left in just clear coat, exposing the bare carbon fiber. Jump to the interior and the car is clad top to bottom with what can only be described as “Bright Tangerine Orange” leather. Match that with the unique exterior, and you have a very distinctive car that is sure to stand out in a crowd of Veyrons. Only 15 of these were produced, and the North American market only saw 3 chassis imported. The car photographed is the lone Canadian car, which currently resides in Vancouver, whilst the other two cars reside in Orlando, Florida and San Diego, California.
“Let us not forget the staggering figures that make up this car’s very impressive resume: 1001 Horse Power, and 0 to 60 MPH in just 2.5 seconds. The car will rocket all the way up to a top speed of 253 MPH, and do so very quickly. In a matter of seconds you will be well over double the speed limit on most roads, and in just a few more seconds you’ll be in the next county over. With these figures, servicing the car doesn’t come cheap; new tires cost more than most new cars at roughly $30,000, and the car’s warranty is in the 6 figure price range. A staple for the automotive collector, these Special Editions don’t trade hands often, and when they do you can expect prices to be steep. Surely a future classic in the automotive market, the car is truly a work of art and technology.”
