The 2010 Cadillac SRX crossover and CTS sport wagon reach the luxury marketplace with an all-new dramatic design and impressive new technology. The CTS wagon and SRX crossover are new entries for Cadillac. I spent the day driving both the SRX crossover and the CTS wagon.  Both vehicles were quite impressive; both offer great designs that uphold the Cadillac nameplate and Cadillac’s newfound success as one of the luxury car leaders.

The SRX functionality and utility were very usable, from the keyless entry to the push start, from excellent storage to the fantastic touch screen navigation system with iPod connectivity and Bluetooth ability. All these blended with great attention to detail and extras that the competition doesn’t offer. I was quite impressed with the heads-up display which covers not just speed but also the navigation system, stereo system and even more detail than has been seen in the past from Cadillac.

Beyond all the great toys and superior safety, the workmanship and quality was nothing but the best. This vehicle competes with Lexus, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and others. The greatest strengths went beyond the engine; the brakes were strong and impressive. I really liked the programmable lift gate, especially when you can store five golf bags along with five people behind it. However, we usually golden foursomes. One of the unique items offered on both vehicles was the AutoNet system which allows wireless Internet access to your vehicle at all times; the cost is $29 per month plus $399 to have it installed. If you need to stay connected, both of these Cadillacs will meet your needs. The rear seat video was creatively installed in the back of the seats in a way the competition doesn’t.

While driving, the SRX and the sport wagon were funded drive but when in sport mode the ride and shift points changed. This made both vehicles a blast to drive for the day and really showed that Cadillac has stepped up its game in the crossover and sport wagon arenas. Although I was impressed with the SRX and the CTS sport wagon, it’s a shame that neither vehicle has blind spot detection or lane change departure to catch those cars that hang out in the rear corners. I was also disappointed that diesel engines are not in Cadillac’s future.

Still, if you’re considering something to replace your luxury SUV, need more space and refuse to give up performance or luxury, these are two vehicles you should absolutely drive. Cadillac has never skimped on performance, safety, luxury, quality or convenience and has maintained that standard in both of these new vehicles.
