2017 Geneva Motor Show
The 2017 Geneva International Motor Show is widely regarded as the biggest and richest in the world – and justly so, as you can see for yourself from the list of debuts at this year’s event. We’re talking over 100 world and European premieres. To put that in perspective, its about as much as – if not more, than the recent Los Angeles, Detroit and Chicago motor shows combined.
The 2017 Geneva Motor Show brings an impressive wealth of new models, from mid-cycle facelifts of mainstream cars like the Skoda Octavia and high-end Italian exotics such as the Lamborghini Aventador S, to brand new introductions ranging from the Ford Fiesta and Opel Insignia to the Range Rover Velar and Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo.
SUVs will have a significant presence at the show, with Mitsubishi debuting the new Eclipse Cross, Opel two new crossovers and Audi a raft of Q-badged production and concept models.
The 87th edition of the Geneva International Motor Show will open its doors to the public from March 9-19, 2017. Opening the exhibition of 900 models including 148 world and European premiers. 180 exhibitors will share this limelight. They include all of the large manufacturers, smaller exclusive constructors, high performance preparation specialists, resolutely timeless automotive designers, plus suppliers of parts, accessories, and equipment to the automotive sector. These diverse groups will offer visitors a unique experience and insight into the world of the automobile.
“Technology and Design are the two key words that best characterise the Geneva Show, and that provide the happiness for the more than 700,000 visitors who are expected. A tour of the Show is like plunging into a universe of bodyworks with fluid or marked lines, colours that are scintillating or deep matt and reflect high performance, plus the scents emanating from high resistance leather”.
Volkswagen’s CC marks the brand’s new “four-door coupe,” the more-stylish sedan. The CC is long overdue for replacement with a name change to Arteon.
The Arteon with an attractive full-width grille that blends into the headlights, subtly aggressive air intakes, and muscular fender bulges front and rear. While the CC was a sedan—complete with a tiny trunk opening thanks to its steeply raked rear window—the Arteon will be a hatchback, which not only allows for a more useful cargo opening but also an even sleeker profile. The roofline flows nearly uninterrupted down past the taillights to the rear bumper, with an elegant ducktail spoiler giving the look some structure. An optional glass roof is surely on the table, and one is included in these illustrations.
MERCEDES-AMG GT4 SEDAN CONCEPT SURPRISES IN GENEVA
The upcoming 2017 Geneva Motor Show in early March will see the debut of a new concept vehicle from Mercedes-AMG, previewing a future luxury four-door, Porsche Panamera-rivaling sedan. Tentatively called the GT4, the study will be the highlight at the German company’s Geneva stand, where it will celebrate its 50th anniversary.
