2023 Chevrolet Corvette ZO6 details and Interview with Shad Balch
The C8 Corvette is about to get a new version, the 2023 ZO6. While Chevrolet dealers are already taking orders, we don’t expect to see them hit the showrooms until the mid-summer of 2022. This upgraded model harnesses insane power and handling, once left to sport’s cars costing 2-4 times as much.
While Chevrolet Representative, Shad Balch, is unable to comment on its price at this point, we can expect it will be in the same realm as the C7 pricing. Look for a starting price of around $90,000. So what do you get for the extra Benjamins? Let’s take a peek.
Of course, the best place to start is “under the hood” – or in this case, under the rear hatch. The 2023 ZO6 will be the first Chevrolet ever to use a Bespoke engine, exclusive to this car. It’s a 5.5-liter naturally aspirated, flat-plane crankshaft V8 that has a power output of a whopping 670 horsepower with 460 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, it will have an exhaust note like we’ve never heard before, from any Chevrolet vehicle. The car is said to go from 0-60 in 2.6 seconds.
If you add the Z07 package, you’ll get carbon-fiber wheels, larger carbon-ceramic brakes, and a carbon-fiber aero kit – both the ZO6 and ZO7 ride on Michelin Sport Cup 2R tires. The extra aero kit helps achieve a downforce of 780 pounds at 186 miles per hour, to help keep the car solidly on the road at ultra-high speeds.
We also know that it will have a wider stance — 3;5-inches in the front and rear – than the standard Stingray and that’s to allow for extra airflow and to accommodate the wider tires.
There’s still ample storage space in the “frunk” as well as some extra storage in the rear of the car, just behind the engine compartment. Chevy still employs its magnetic ride suspension that adapts for a far more forgiving ride around town but lets you flip a switch for the track.
Chevy states that this car will not be a limited run and will have no problems building to consumer demand.
There are three different seat configurations you can select from, as well as twelve different exterior colors and seven different interior options.
Chevy tells us that there is an available Corvette training course available by Spring Mountain Motorsports to help you learn the ins and outs of driving the ZO6.
Chevrolet mixes no words on the competition it’s taking aim at. The Porsche 911, Ferrari, Mclaren and Lamborghini. It has the performance to take on each of those brands and still come in at a far more affordable price tag.
If you like what you see so far, then you really need to talk to your local dealer asap about putting a deposit down as they’ll go fast once they arrive next summer.
