2018 Hyundai Sonata: His Turn – Her Turn™ Car Review
Paul Fix III joins Paul Brian in San Diego, California in this His Turn – “His” Turn expert car review of the 2018 Hyundai Sonata.
The 2018 Hyundai Sonata is receiving a refresh. Hyundai is getting back to its striking and head-turning design. The exterior and interior have been changed to reflect their forward thinking company. Hyundai sedans have the advantages of fuel economy, style, and value in the US market. 31% of all Hyundais are Sonatas. Part of the new deign was the coupe body style — the angles make the vehicle seem as though its moving quickly, even when standing still. Hyundai is looking to create and instant “wow” factor for maximum impact. The new cascade grill is designed after the steel forge at one of the plants where they create their own body panels; it looks like molten steel being poured. This all combined this the new sporty interior makes for a strong offering and harmonious design.
From an engineering standpoint, the new Sonata offers improved body control from updated suspension and structural rigidity, more efficiency from an improved transmission that reduced excess power waste, and quicker shifting as a bonus for the 8 speed gearbox.
New as standard is Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and 3 years of BlueLink (Hyundai’s concierge service).
