Monterey Car Week 2015 Preview Edition

In less than a month, Monterey Car Week will be here. This year Car Week runs from August 10th thru the 16th. I for one cannot wait, especially since the teasers are already being released.
First, BMW is promising to show not one but two new concept cars this year. www.autoblog.com/2015/07/20/bmw-concepts-monterey-teaser/
We don’t have much to go on other than the image provided, but I have to say I am already intrigued. I know it’s just a sketch, but the design reminds me of a Formula 1 wheel, and an aircraft wheel and K.I.T.T.’s steering wheel all at the same time. I like it. We will have to wait for the big reveal on August 13th for the press event at the BMW Villa to find out what BMW has planned.
Second, there is this: www.autoblog.com/2015/07/17/multimillion-dollar-ferraris-gooding-pebble-beach-auction/. Ferraris, Ferraris, Ferraris. Gooding & Company has three choice Ferraris up for auction at this year’s Car Week.
The first is the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider. If the name doesn’t ring a bell, think back to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Yep. That Ferrari. Of course, the movie version that was driven hard by garage attendants and then sent through a plate glass window was a replica. This offering is the real deal. Gooding & Company is hoping to get right around $17 million for this rare beauty at Pebble Beach.
Gooding & Company is also offering a 1957 410 Superamerica and a 1965 400 Superfast. In 1978, the Superamerica was first in class at Pebble Beach. When you look at the photo provided, it’s no wonder. And it only happens to be the fastest car in its model year.
If you’ve never been, Monterey Car Week is amazing. Put it on your bucket list if it isn’t there and go. Check out the Events page here. www.montereycarweek.com/Events.html For people who love cars this is a must do. The new concepts, the auctions, the cruises, especially the Concours d’Elegance, which is in its 60th year; there isn’t anything quite like Monterey Car Week.
But what do you think BMW is going to show us? And what do you think about those Ferraris?

My Final Thought:
Hacked! fortune.com/2015/07/23/jeep-hack-details-fiat-chrysler/
It appears that cars can actually be hacked while driving. And the automotive media said this fear was overblown only a year ago. Guess what? It’s definitely a reality. So much so that Fiat Chrysler is now recalling 1.4 million vehicles: fortune.com/2015/07/24/jeep-cherokee-recall/
Time for Norton or Symantec to get into the automotive business.
But what do you think?
