PAUL FIX II PODIUMS AT WAKINS GLEN

Paul Fix II Lime Rock

Watkins Glen, NY (June 11, 2013) – Paul Fix II earned another podium finish at Watkins Glen International placing second, backing up his first place result two weeks ago at Lime Rock Park. Fix, driving the #4 StopFlex/Beebe Racing/PME/Lamers Chevrolet Corvette, managed to stay within eye sight of team mate Doug Peterson, the eventual racer winner, despite transmission issues. The gearbox in Fix’s Corvette relinquished third gear about a third of the way into the event.

“I was coming into a corner, went for third gear and got a handful of nothing,” noted Fix. “This is a tough track to navigate with only fourth and fifth gears. I adjusted my driving style and kept Doug in sight.”

Despite the mechanical gremlin, Fix was able to stay only a handful of seconds behind Peterson and able to create a gap back to the third and fourth place cars of Simon Gregg and John Baucom respectively. Said Fix, “Once I knew Doug would be hard to catch, the objective became to keep Simon and John behind me and earn as many points as possible. I’ll take the end result of second place, I am very happy with the effort.”

Offered Larry Beebe of the weekend’s achievement, “Paul did a great job for us, and really dug deep to finish second bringing it home without the use of third gear. He really impressed us today.”

For Tony Ave, despite the unexpected transmission situation, the achievement of second place by Fix made it easier to accept. “I was really disappointed when Paul called in saying we had lost third gear. Transmission problems are very rare for us, but in the end he saved the day, held off the competition to help Doug Peterson in the points, and to be honest really impressed me.”

“That’s two races in a row where he hasn’t put a wheel wrong. I’m looking forward to doing more races with this driver lineup,” stated Ave.

Fix now occupies the fifth spot in the season points, after the last two rounds of racing.
