Privacy Battles Looms Over Black-Box Crash Data – Lauren Fix

Lauren Fix, the “Car Coach” blogger and automotive industry watcher, told “MidPoint” host Ed Berliner on Newsmax TV on Wednesday that U.S. law, effective Sept. 1, requires data-recording black boxes inside all new cars sold in the United States — but doesn’t say who owns the data, which includes speed, location, and whether seat belts are in use during a crash. Who owns your car’s black-box crash data?
“Right now it’s open to everyone,” Fix said.

Lauren Fix, The Car Coach is the host of a new, candid automotive segment for Newsmax TV called “Put the Pedal to the Metal.” The segment airs weekly on DirectTV Channel 37 and through Dish Network.
