The 2018 Aston Martin AM-RB 001, a stunning hypercar, was revealed to the world just a week ago. It is setting internet car communities the world over completely ablaze with chatter and excitement. This car is the result of an epic collaboration between Aston Martin and Red Bull. Both parties utilizing the strengths of the other on a goal to create one of the fastest, most powerful road-going cars ever.
While deliveries are still more than two years away, details about the car have been released and are certainly worth a read. By all accounts, the 2018 Aston Martin AM-RB 001 hypercar is going to fly on the racetrack and off the production line. Aston Martin stated that their aim with the 2018 Aston Martin AM-RB 001 is to achieve a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio. This has been the benchmark for performance since Koenigsegg achieved that ratio with their One:1 model just a few years ago. Based on the materials available, we can expect this beauty to weigh in around 1200-1400kgs, making power balanced to its weight. Thus, Aston Martin’s goal of a perfectly balanced car is achieved with rocket speed. Red Bull’s objective in partnering with Aston Martin is to create a car that is gracefully civil on the road and a monster on the track. Their focus on this project has been how best to achieve both, without sacrificing one over the other. While those two goals aren’t mutually exclusive, few cars have been able to do both and truly excel in each area. In the 2018 Aston Martin AM-RB 001, it looks like we have a hypercar that truly does meet both realms of criteria. Beautifully made and perfectly balanced.
With a collaboration between famed Aston Martin and Red Bull, we can expect exclusivity and rarity to be key to this car’s marketing success. The official press statement stated only 99 road cars and 24 track race cars will be produced. At this time, all are spoken for after a private viewing occurred several months ago for select customers in Monaco. Even if spots were available, at a price starting at $2,600,000 for the road-going car and $3,900,000 for the track-only racer, this car is not one that many will have sitting in their garages. However, Aston Martin has a very strong following around the world with a brand following of buyers who believe in experiencing these cars on the road. We can expect to see quite a few of the 2018 Aston Martin AM-RB 001 models getting regular exercise, on and off the race track.
